Donation FAQ

What is FARES?

FARES is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We work with the Guatemalan government and national and international institutions on scientific research and environmental conservation, as well as community development programs in the Mirador Basin of northern Guatemala.

How will my donation be used?

We value highly the contributions we receive from our generous benefactors. For this reason, we emphatically strive to minimize our administrative costs so that your donation really does make a difference. Based on our 2006 expenditures, administrative costs are less than 10% of total expenditures.

What else can I do?

The easiest thing you can do is to help spread the word about the work that is being done by FARES. Send this website to a friend, or link to our site from yours. We are also periodically in need of volunteers to assist in various capacities. Send an email to volunteer@fares-foundation.org detailing any specific skill or service you could provide if you are interested in being contacted regarding such an opportunity.
